I've always wanted to be part of setting a world record and now I have my chance, along with millions of other people who take part in the Great Cloth Diaper Change 2011.  I know, I know, cloth diapers aren't everybody's first pick for holding in what their baby eliminates, but cloth diapers have come a long way, baby.  A very long way.  When my first baby was born 16 years ago we used cloth diapers as burp cloths.  The cloth diapers I'm referring to now are very different.  And that's what the organizers of this event want you to realize.  So, they've connected with Earth Day celebrations to draw attention to the cause and are aiming to set a world record for the most cloth diapers ever changed simultaneously.  The grand event is set for April 23rd, at a little after noon Eastern Time.  Bottles to Britches is sponsoring one of the community events where lots of parents will be gathering to take part.  The event we'd love to see you attend is being held at the Chattahoochee Nature Center.  Festivities will start at 10am and "wrap up" with the simultaneous diaper change.  It's a free event with paid admission to the nature center, and if you RSVP you can purchase tickets at a discounted group rate.   You can follow the challenge on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/GreatClothDiaperChange and Twitter www.twitter.com/ClothRecord and, for frequent updates, greatclothdiaperchange.com.  Diane Costello of The Traveling Diaper Show and Garnett Henderson of Cottontails Cloth Diaper Service are the organizers at the Chattahoochee Nature Center event and are eager to be a part of setting a Guinness World Record and letting the world know that cloth diapering rocks.   Join them at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell, GA 30075 on Saturday April 23, 2011 from 10 AM – 1 PM. Get more info and online RSVP at diapershowGCDC.eventbrite.com

This event is part of a larger (and growing) movement. Participants may contribute $1 (or more) at all North American events to benefit the Real Diaper Association, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to help families across the U.S. and Canada find and use reusable cloth diapers.

Want to get started with cloth diapers before the big event? Bambino Mio has options you can try and are available at several local baby stores (click here to send an email for a list of local stores).   gDiapers is another choice that many parents prefer.  Many more options will be displayed at the event on April 23rd.

Note: There is another event being planned in the Decatur area.  For information on that, click here. Please make plans to attend if you can! (I'll be borrowing a baby so I can take part!)
