One of the great things about Twitter is its ability to bring a community together for a cause and also unite bloggers who are behind that cause. Recently on Twitter, a handful of people were able to raise tens of thousands of dollars to help a child facing a terminal illness. Ten year old Tanner is that child. His aunt is a blogger who helped build awareness of Tanner's story and special circumstances. She put out a plea to raise money to help the family with a simple fundraiser--a 5K at the Blogher Convention in NYC. She more than succeeded. She asked bloggers to spread the word and even made the run memorable by asking participants to wear a tutu. The response was touching. The run/walk took place this morning and I was lucky enough to meet some of Tanners' friends and walk with them through Central Park. Tanner has dealt with troubles most of us will never have to face. He still has a great attitude, fabulous spirit and terrific smile, which is big when he spots a dog along our walk or talks with his mother's friend about her children his age. I've included some fun photos from the walk and hope you are inspired by Tanner and his friends, just as I was when they allowed me to walk alongside them for this small part of their journey.
